Goodwood-Galway Lucky 15: Road can find plenty more riches

Published:

If you thought yesterday’s Glorious Goodwood-Galway bonanza was special then you haven’t seen anything yet.

The Sussex Stakes and the Galway Plate are your two heavyweight contests this Wednesday and we’re back to run the rule over both cards.

This time round we’ll be on the level and over the jumps with today’s Lucky 15 a dual-code affair that’ll get hearts pumping from Plumpton to Punchestown.

Here’s what we’re tipping…

Wind Place and Sho, 14:00 Glorious Goodwood

For most of these runners this is a real shot into the unknown with this 2m5f slog not your usual Flat racing fare.

However, we’ve whittled it down and we’re confident this pick can defy a 5lb rise and the step up in class.

The James Eustace-trained charge was a decent winner over 18f at Pontefract last time out and interestingly shares the same draw as three of the last five renewal victors.

Galileo Gold, 15:10 Glorious Goodwood

Seven of the last eight winners have been favourites and we fancy the current jolly to get the job done and confirm his superiority over his re-opposing rivals.

The Gurkha and Awtaad are likely to be the main challengers once again. But having put them to the sword at Royal Ascot and shown he handles the track at last year’s meeting there’s every reason to feel super-confident about our selection’s chances.

Road to Riches, 17:30 Galway

All of your favourites are coming out to play for the Galway Plate and we reckon there’ll be a heartwarming tale of redemption to savour.

Road to Riches was perhaps a tad unfortunate not to have claimed more honours last season but Noel Meade’s runner can make some amends here and reclaim the crown he won two years ago.

There’s some top opposition here but he should still have more than enough to grind them down.

Serefeli, 18:05 Galway

Four-year-olds have tended to do well in this contest in recent years and our final pick should continue that trend.

Peter Fahey’s entrant wasn’t beaten far over 7f at Gowran Park just four days ago and showed enough in that performance to suggest this latest assault is well within his means.
