Frankie: Wednesday is going to be my big day at Glorious Goodwood

Published:

Glorious Goodwood is upon us and I’m very excited about my rides. The 3000 is in sight, I’m just six winners away from hitting that target and it’d be fantastic to get the job done at a track I love.

I need to get off to a decent start and get some winners on the board early doors to have a realistic chance of doing it this week. If I don’t get two or three before Thursday then it won’t happen.

But if I don’t hit 3000 at Goodwood then there’s always next week!

Tuesday’s rides

Tupi heads for the Lennox Stakes with an outsider’s chance on the opening day. Some of the other horses have better form but we know what he can do on his day.

Mazyoun will be an interesting one. I don’t know too much about him but he has a very decent pedigree.

Elsewhere, Gold Prince has done OK and he’ll have first time blinkers which will help him and I’ll also be on Thesme who’s a bit of an unknown quantity to me.

Wednesday’s rides

The second day is the big one for me and it’ll be all systems go.

Platitude was second at Newmarket last time out and he’s nice horse and a good stayer.

Meanwhile, Global Applause and The Lacemaker are two other nice rides to pick up.

However, the big focus will of course be on Galileo Gold.

I go into the Sussex Stakes with a favourite’s chance. Everyone knows what to expect from him. He’s won here before, he handles the track and whoever passes him wins, it’s as simple as that.

He didn’t get the best of it in the Irish 2000 Guineas but the ground was soft and Galileo Gold came back and got the job done at Royal Ascot ahead of some of his re-opposing rivals.

Thursday’s rides

Sandro Boticelli is my ride in this year’s Goodwood Cup. Soft ground would’ve been preferable but it looks like it’s going to remain pretty dry.

Meanwhile, Mehmas is entered in the Richmond Stakes and I know what to expect from him. He’s a very honest two-year-old and you know he’ll wear his heart on his sleeve and give it his all.

I’m still waiting to hear more about what I’ll be on this Friday and Saturday so watch this space.

One that does looks likely is Swiss Range in the Nassau Stakes for John (Gosden). She was the Pretty Polly winner at Newmarket so that’s solid form in the book.

It’s all shaping up to be another tremendous meeting and I can’t wait to get started.

Good luck!

Frankie.
