Early risers Leeds United are making a bold transfer statement

He’s only been in charge for just over a month, but already Leeds boss Garry Monk has announced his fifth signing of the summer as he aims to be the man to lead United back to the Premier League.
The West Yorkshire outfit have this morning announced via their Twitter page the signing of Swansea’s exciting young midfielder Matt Grimes on a season long loan deal, just hours after the arrival of ex-England goalkeeper Rob Green, who joins on a free transfer from Queens Park Rangers.
It’s of no surprise that Monk has headed back to Swansea, a club where he spent 11 years both playing and managing, in an attempt to grab players to help mount a push for promotion.
He’s also managed to persuade his old club to allow 25-year old defender Kyle Bartley to join up with the Whites in an attempt to rectify last season’s defensive frailties.

However, if Leeds want to challenge for promotion, they’ll have to be much sharper in front of goal, following a season which saw them hit the back of the net just 50 times.
Looking to add pace and physicality to his front line, Monk earlier this week captured Sporting Lisbon prospect Hadi Sacko, also on a season long loan deal.
The former French under-20 international will join up with fellow new boy Marcus Antonsson, who has bagged 22 goals in 41 appearances in the last two years with Swedish side Kalmar, as Monk looks to add competition for places up-front.
With their new boss clearly in no mood to stop buying just yet, United fans can expect a transfer-packed summer ahead.
