Get stuck in…

NAP – Charming Thought – 15:35 Newbury

Lightly-raced and ready to strip fitter, Charming Thought is being backed off the boards for this year’s Hackwood Stakes.

Charlie Appleby’s charge finished a creditable fourth on his first appearance in nearly two years last time out and the previous Group 1 winner looks primed to build upon that performance.

The Godolphin runner had the likes of Ivawood and Muhaarar in behind in the 2014 Middle Park.

And having showed promising signs on his belated return there’s every reason to feel confident of a return to that sort of form.

NB – Long House Hall – 14:45 Market Rasen

There are some very real candidates for this contest, David Pipe’s wily veteran Ballynagour being one.

But it’s this year’s Coral Cup runner-up Long House Hall who gets the vote from us with his form over this type of trip very respectable indeed.

Trainer Harry Skelton likes to run his charge on better ground and it’s proved dividends so far for a horse who’s posted four wins from 13 outings under Rules.

Granted, only one of those was over larger obstacles but there’s been enough to suggest the eight-year-old can continue to progress.

Lively Longshot – Super Julius – 16:10 Newbury

Two-year-old sprints are ripe for picking out a Lively Longshot and this contest is no exception.

There have been winners at odds of 28/1, 25/1, 20/1 and 100/1 in the last 10 years and we’re aiming to hit the target with our very own big-priced selection.

Super Julius shaped very well when securing his first career victory at Chester last time out.

That three-and-three-quarter length success has outlined his promise and attracted our interest but you’d better get in quick before anyone else catches on.
