Arsenal now just 2/1 to sign wantaway Lyon striker this summer

Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette is now just 2/1 to join Arsenal this summer, as Arsene Wenger’s search for an out-and-out goalscorer continues.

And it looks as though Gunners’ fans may finally have their wishes granted, with a little help from the 25-year old striker himself.

Seemingly keen to force his way out of the Lyon picture, Lacazette has expressed his desire to leave the French club in search of a new challenge, having spent his whole career with his hometown club.

Arsenal fans have reason to be excited should this deal take place, with the striker netting 63 league goals in the last three seasons.

To put that into context, that’s more than current Gunners forwards Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott put together in the same time.

But with just three weeks to go until the new Premier League campaign gets underway, Wenger would ideally like to have all of his targets training with the squad in preparation for the first game, at home to Liverpool – meaning a deal needs to be completed sooner rather than later.

And should a move to the Emirates fail to materialise, there’s likely to be a whole host of clubs after Lacazette’s signature, with PSG second favourites at 7/1 to snap him up.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “It seems like the perfect match – Lacazette wants a new challenge and the Gunners want a new striker, and today’s odds are suggesting the striker could be heading to the Emirates pretty soon.”

And should Lacazette be in the starting line-up for Arsenal’s first game of the season, the 11/10 on them to beat Liverpool at home will seem like a steal.
