3 Premier League signings you may have missed amid Zlatan-mania
The worst-kept secret in football was finally unveiled last week, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirmed his move to Manchester United.
However, there have been a flurry of transfers in the Premier League of late, some of which may have gone unnoticed once the enigmatic Swede confirmed his impending arrival.
Here is a round up of three of the biggest top-flight purchases you may have missed recently:
Nolito to Manchester City
While Old Trafford was busy welcoming one recent Euro 2016 participant to Manchester, the Etihad secured the signature of another.
The Citizens made their second major signing of the Pep Guardiola era by bringing in Spain winger Nolito from Celta Vigo for around £13.5m.
That follows the Ilkay Gundogan’s capture from Borussia Dortmund earlier in the offseason, with the 29-year-old Spaniard arriving to provide competition down City’s flanks.
Andros Townsend to Crystal Palace
The Eagles capitalised on Newcastle’s relegation to lure winger Townsend back down south after a brief stint in the north-east.
Despite some inspired play towards the latter part of the season, the England international couldn’t do enough to keep the Magpies afloat. Palace wasted little time in securing the former Tottenham man for £13m.
With Wilfried Zaha, Yannick Bolasie and Jason Puncheon already around, Alan Pardew certainly has some attacking weapons at his disposal this season.
Maarten Stekelenburg to Everton
After allowing Tim Howard to return to his homeland and play in the MLS, the Toffees needed to find a new gloveman to work with new manager Ronald Koeman.
The Dutchman has seemingly decided to stick to what he knows in that department, bringing in Stekelenburg from Fulham and reuniting with the stopper from his days as Ajax boss.
Whether it is the Dutch keeper or Joel Robles that starts between the sticks against Tottenham on the opening day remains to be seen though.
