3 in-form longshots to look out for at the PGA Championship

The dust has barely settled on Henrik Stenson’s newly-acquired Open Championship trophy before golf’s fourth and final major tournament of the year looms into view.

This summer’s Olympics means the scheduling of the PGA Championship was brought forward in 2016.

That allows a number of players to have a crack at the big prize with confidence high after good performances.

Here, we look at three of the longer-priced options with good form heading into the Baltrusol Golf Club event:

Tyrrell Hatton – 150/1

The High Wycombe native started 2016 with a world ranking of 104 and, after a stellar run of form so far this season, has seen that sky rocket to 55 ahead of the PGA Championship.

The highlight of his year so far was his tie for fifth at the recent Open Championship, but that performance wasn’t a bolt from the blue.

Hatton has had five top-10 finishes this year, with the four of them coming in his last seven starts.

Andy Sullivan – 125/1

Another Englishman enjoying life as a pro golfer at the moment is Sullivan, who hasn’t finished outside the top 25 in any of his last six appearances and has been top-10 in two of those.

A T12 at Royal Troon was his best finish at a major tournament and the quick turnaround from Scotland to Baltusrol will play into the Nuneaton man’s hands with his confidence high.

Francesco Molinari – 125/1

Unlike the previous two selections, the Italian doesn’t arrive in New Jersey after a particularly outstanding Open Championship, having finished in a tie for 36th.

However, what Molinari does possess which the Hatton and Sullivan don’t is form in the US. The two-time Ryder Cup star has excelled on the PGA Tour this season, making the cut in 12 of his 15 events and racking up four top-25 finishes and three in the top 10.
