Optimistic Hibernian fan makes mega #WhatAretheOdds request

Published:

Hibernian missed out on promotion from the Ladbrokes Championship last season, after a run of one win in eight games. But one Hibs fan is tipping their beloved side to have no such trouble next year, with a #WhatAretheOdds request for the Easter Road club to go through the 2016-17 Ladbrokes Championship unbeaten.

With Neil Lennon now installed as manager and a crop of young talents like Jason Cummings and John McGinn emerging, the future certainly looks bright for the Leith outfit.

The Cabbage also defeated a raft of illustrious opponents – including Rangers, Aberdeen and Hearts – en route to two cup finals last season, as they ended their 114-year wait to lift the Scottish Cup.

On their day, Hibs are a match for anyone, and will be full of confidence after their triumph at Hampden, but the sizeable odds of 40/1 suggest that the Hibees might fall short of an unbeaten campaign.

Our customer will certainly be hoping that Hibs can improve on last season’s start, when this bet would have lasted all of 90 minutes, following a shock opening-day defeat in Dumbarton.

And while Rangers – who inflicted two of Hibernian’s league losses last season – are no longer an issue, Lennon needs to cut out defeats to the likes of Queen of the South and basement club Alloa Athletic, if this punter is to get a good run for his money.

While this is an ambitious ask for Hibs, they are the 5/4 favourites to win the Ladbrokes Championship next season. But even if they wrap the title up early, there could be one fan biting their fingernails against St Mirren on the final day of the season.
