Man United flop just 7/4 to make shock move to Liverpool

Published:

No player has been transferred between Manchester United and Liverpool since Phil Chisnall in 1964, but trade could be set to resume between these two giants of English football, with United winger Memphis Depay now just 7/4 to make a controversial exit to Anfield.

The 22-year-old has seen his odds of a move to Merseyside fall from 7/2 to 7/4 with new Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho likely to tie up deals for fellow wingers Henrik Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund and Julian Draxler of Wolfsburg.

While the speculation on Depay to Liverpool has rumbled on, a few new outsiders have joined the list, with a trio of Leicester, Stoke City and former club PSV Eindhoven all 10s to swoop for the Moordrecht native this summer.

With the exit of N’Golo Kante likely, Claudio Ranieri is likely to have a sizeable budget towards the end of the transfer window, while the Potters aren’t shy of making a marquee signing.

Giannelli Imbula cost Mark Hughes’ men £18.3m – and Transfermarkt.co.uk value Depay at just £18.75m following a disappointing season at Old Trafford, meaning the FA Cup winner would no longer be out of their price range.

However, a move to London looks unlikely with capital clubs Arsenal (14/1) and Chelsea (16/1) outsiders to snap up the FA Cup winner.

A Ladbrokes’ spokesperson said: “Man United fans will have a new Public Enemy No. 1 if their big-money buy swaps the Stretford End for the Kop this summer.”
