Iceland v Hungary: Expect a cagey draw in crucial group F clash

Four points should be enough for Hungary to book a place in the last 16, and following a surprise victory over Austria, the Nemzeti Tizenegy are likely to play it safe against Iceland, with a draw looking the most likely outcome.

Both sides made it to Euro 2016 on the back of a strong defence, each chalking up six clean sheets en route to France.

And with up to three teams making it out of the group, this will be more of a must-not-lose game than a must-win affair – something we’re likely to see from both teams’ approach.

That means that a draw looks to be the smart selection in the match betting, with 11/5 for honours even, while Iceland are 31/20 to win and 2/1 for a Hungary victory.

However, there could be even better value elsewhere, with the signs pointing to a low-scoring affair, with seven of the Hungarians’ last 11 competitive games finishing with under 2.5 goals.

And while Iceland produced a sensational display to keep out Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo on Tuesday, they’ve struggled recently at the other end, averaging just one goal a game in their last five competitive outings. That means the 6/1 for a 0-0 draw could be the best bet in this clash.

However, Hungary’s penchant for late goals – scoring six times after the 70-minute mark during qualifying – means that Iceland to lead at HT, draw at FT could prove to be an inspired selection at 12/1.
