Fans throw their weight behind under-fire Harry Kane

The soul searching continues as far as England’s 1-1 draw against Russia is concerned with scapegoats being identified following the Three Lions’ Euro 2016 opener.

Roy Hodgson’s side failed to hold onto their narrow lead in Marseille with Vasili Berezutski’s 92nd-minute equaliser providing a cruel end to what had largely been a positive performance on the pitch.

However, it didn’t take too long for a villain of the piece to emerge and in this instance, much of the criticism has been aimed at striker Harry Kane.

Labelled lethargic and off the pace, Kane is taking the flak for England’s failure, but some 56 per cent of you defended him, voting for the 22-year-old to start for England in their crunch clash against Wales this Thursday.

Granted, it wasn’t a huge margin of victory with 44 per cent preferring to see the 22-year-old benched.

But the result of our latest Twitter poll should provide some solace to the under-fire Tottenham frontman.

Kane is 1/7 to be named in Hodgson’s starting XI against the Dragons with odds of evens offered for him to partner Jamie Vardy in the England attack in Lens.

And despite the recent criticism he’s received, Kane is still 4/6 to start all of his country’s games at the Euros.
