Catalans more than ready to add to struggling Leeds’ woes
Lowly Leeds Rhinos’ awful season is set to continue tonight when high flying Catalans Dragons come to town.
With just three wins to their name from 16 attempts this season, last year’s treble winners remain rooted to the bottom of Super League and face an in-form Dragons at Headingley.
To add to Leeds’ mounting woes, head coach Brian McDermott has been given more bad news on the injury front this week, and can’t call upon 2015 Man of Steel Zak Hardaker, Adam Cuthbertson, Rob Burrow or youngster Ashton Golding for tonight’s game.
Five defeats on the bounce have all but ended the Rhions’ hopes of securing a top-eight finish, and that would certainly seem an impossible task if they failed to record a win tonight.
In Catalans, they come up against one of the favourites to claim Grand Final success in October and the French side come in to the game on the back of just two defeats in their last 11 games.
Catalans winger Jodie Broughton has proved one of the smartest acquisitions of 2016, scoring 16 tries in 15 games since moving to the south of France.
He’s scored 2 or more in five games already this season and is 12/5 to cross the line at least twice tonight.
When the sides met back in February, Leeds pushed the Dragons close but came out on the wrong side of a close 32-28 defeat.
