Boris Johnson the early favourite to succeed David Cameron

Boris Johnson is an odds-on shot to replace David Cameron as the next Tory leader following the Prime Minister’s decision to stand down from his role in October.
Cameron made the announcement earlier this morning after Remain lost the referendum with 52 per cent of the electorate voting for Britain to leave the EU.
The EU Referendum outcome has sent shockwaves through the British political scene and the global economy with Cameron’s resignation part of the immediate fall-out.
Uxbridge and South Ruislip MP Johnson was a key voice for Leave and now that his camp have emerged victorious it would appear that the 52-year-old is in a strong position to succeed the outgoing PM.
Our political traders initially installed the former London Mayor as an even-money shot to replace Cameron with those odds since cut to 4/5.
However, he could face stiff competition from fellow pro-Leave figureheads Theresa May and Michael Gove.
They’ve been priced up at 3/1 and 5/1 respectively although given the nature of the market we expect plenty more fluctuation.
