Watford hopeful of landing Liverpool’s young star

It’s mission accomplished for Watford boss Quique Sanchez-Flores this season, with Premier League survival already confirmed. However, with the fourth-lowest goals tally in the Premier League, the shot-shy Hornets are hot favourites to snap up Liverpool striker Jordan Sinclair this summer.

Birmingham-born Sinclair has impressed in the Anfield outfit’s U18 side but has found first-team appearances difficult to come by, with only five to his name so far.

Though Watford reportedly had a £3m bid for the player rejected in January, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is allegedly resigned to the fact the young star will leave Merseyside when his contract expires this summer.

However, Crystal Palace are apparently ready to battle the Hornets for the youngster’s services, and with Alan Pardew’s men heading to the FA Cup final later this month, they could be able to tempt the former Wigan Athletic loanee with the promise of European football.

That said, Sinclair – who scored his first senior goal in January’s 2-2 draw with Exeter City – is believed to be keen on pushing through a move to Vicarage Road, and the 6ft hitman could be an effective, imposing alternative to Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo.

Sinclair’s current employers coincidentally face the side he’s tipped to join, on Sunday. Liverpool are 8/15 for the win, with Watford 11/2 and 7/2 for honours even.

However, with the Reds having netted 13 times in their last five league outings while also boasting the top eight’s leakiest defence, the 10/1 on a 3-1 win for the hosts could prove a shrewd selection.
