Value in backing Hull and Sheffield Wednesday to go the distance

Published:

There’s no doubt that the all-Yorkshire Championship final will prove a gripping game, with so much at stake, and old rivalries rekindled. However, recent form and the history of meetings between Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday suggests this will be a close-run game likely to end in penalty shoot-out drama.

All three of the most recent meetings between these sides have ended level, while Wednesday had the joint-second highest number of draws in the Championship, with 17 of their 46 games finishing level.

Similarly, The Tigers have frequently enjoyed a share of the spoils in their games of late, with seven draws in their last 20 outings.

However, with both clubs among the league’s highest scorers, it’s unlikely to be a bore draw. City have scored at least two goals in seven of their last nine games, while the Owls have only failed to net in one of their last 12 fixtures.

The 11/5 on offer for a draw appears to be fantastic value for a fixture which so often ends level, though those looking to back Hull (13/10) or Wednesday (13/5) to win in 90 minutes.

As regards scoreline bets, 2-2 looks the one to back at 16/1, however, Hull could well be worth a flutter to win on penalties at 9/1, following their outstanding shoot-out victory against Leicester City in October’s Capital One Cup tie.

But if you’re looking to back the Tigers to win a high-scoring affair in normal time, you can enjoy our fantastic price boost – Hull to win and BTTS was 4/1 NOW 5/1.
