Two huge Leicester title gambles cashed out before Man Utd game

Mere hours before Leicester City set about crowning the most unlikely title success in the Premier League era, two nervous Ladbrokes customers made a late decision to take their money and run.

Two bets at 5000/1 on the Foxes winning the Premier League title this season were cashed out before kick-off at Old Trafford.

A win at the Theatre Of Dreams would confirm Claudio Ranieri’s side as champions, and earn both customers full payouts, but the two punters decided to take fate into their own hands instead.

Both gambles were from £1 stakes and would stand to win £5000 should the Foxes claim the victory they need for their first ever Premier League title. However, both customers decided to cash out for £4381 instead and in doing so, saved themselves a nervous watch.

The two punts were cashed out from a pub in Leicester city centre prior to kick off, leaving just 22 open bets on the Foxes at the full 5000/1 ante-post odds.

The biggest potential return of that stack of expectant bets is £100k, coming off a £20 investment.

Ladbrokes’ Alex Donahue said: “It looks like pre-match nerves have set in for two Leicester fans. Their side may look home and hosed but should the unthinkable happen they’ve still got several thousand in the bank.”

Leicester are now a 1/20 slam dunk to win the title with Ladbrokes with two games to go after the United tussle, with closest rivals Tottenham out to 14/1 with Chelsea to play on Monday night.

The Foxes are rated as 16/5 outsiders in their decisive clash with the Red Devils, with the hosts an even-money shot and the draw available to back at 5/2.
