Stoke City looking to boost impressive midfield with Norwich star

Mark Hughes has built a midfield envied by managers across the country at Stoke City, and word is the Welsh boss plans to further strengthen his options this summer with the signing of Norwich City’s talented winger Nathan Redmond.

The 22-year-old has impressed since his 2013 move to Carrow Road from boyhood club Birmingham City.

Despite the Norfolk side’s relegation from the Premier League last season, Redmond’s performances caught the eye of opposition managers, as he netted six times and produced a number of impressive assists.

Those domestic displays have been matched by three goals in five outings for England U21s, and Hughes could well swoop for his man in the coming weeks before any more international displays boost the Birmingham native’s value.

As it stands, transfermarkt.co.uk value the former Blues man at £5.63m, a fee which seems well within the financial means of a club who broke the £10m mark twice in the last year, for Xherdan Shaqiri and Giannelli Imbula, respectively.

With the promise of Premier League football and a return to his native Midlands, the possibility of a switch to the Potteries could prove tough to refuse for the fleet-footed winger.

Markets for next season are understandably thin on the ground right now, but those who think this versatile Stoke side can ‘do a Leicester’ can back the Potters to win the Premier League at 350/1.

Meanwhile, it’s a more realistic 9/1 shot that the Canaries will return to the top-flight in style by winning next season’s Championship.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
