‘Some fans cashed out in March – I booked a holiday!’ – A Leicester City fan’s tale

Leicester fan Keval Nakesheree missed the title-clinching game just like boss Claudio Ranieri. The difference?

He was at 10,000 feet, en-route to Florida with a holiday booked before his side had even won the league – though he owed the trip to Ranieri and co.

The supporter, who banked £33,333 from his £5 each way bet placed in August was so confident his side would land the title he booked the family trip to Florida back in March when the Foxes first went odds-on for the title.

Nakesheree said: “Some fans cashed out of their title bets in March – I booked a holiday! Just like King Claudio I missed the big game as I was flying but as soon as I touched down I checked the result and the outcome I had always believed in was finally a reality.”

“I always had the faith in Leicester defying the odds and never thought to cash out for a second. I got a good feeling earlier in the season and booked the trip thinking I’d come back just in time for the trophy tour, but they got it wrapped up even sooner than I thought.”

“I have been treated like royalty in Florida and everyone wants a picture of me in my Leicester shirt. This is proof just how crazy this story is – Americans are stopping me in the street to congratulate me. I feel like a celebrity!”

Nakesheree, born in Leicester but now living in Gloucestershire placed two bets in his local Ladbrokes at the start of the season: £5 on Leicester to be top at Christmas at 1000/1, and £5 each way at 5000/1.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “We’ve never known a fan as confident as Keval. Not cashing out is one thing, but missing the decisive match because you’ve already spent your winnings on a holiday is another altogether. We salute him and if he wants to come and run our football odds calculation department when he returns, he’s welcome.”
