Russia Remain Hot Favourites Ahead Of The Eurovision Semi-Finals

It’s almost that time of the year again, where 36 countries send musical representatives to perform ludicrously over-the-top music in a bid for continental glory. We’re of course referring to the Eurovision song contest!
This year’s competition finds itself in Stockholm, the second time in history that the city has hosted the event.
The Swedish capital was announced as the host city last year, after Mans Zelmerlow brought home the trophy with his song Heroes.
On May 10 half of the 36 countries will perform their entries, taking it in turns to be judged and deemed worthy (or unworthy) of entry into the grand final.
Mel Giedroyc and Scott Mills will return as hosts of the semi-finals to carry you through the night with their running commentary of the 18 acts.

Joe and Jake will look to achieve Eurovision glory for the UK for the first time since 1997, when Katrina and the Waves secured victory with Love Shine A Light. The duo find themselves at 66/1 to win the competition with You’re Not Alone.
Despite taking a tumble in his first rehearsal at the Globe Arena, Russia’s Sergey Lazarev still remains the hot favourite for Eurovision triumph at 9/4 after Russia came in second place last year, and hopes his song You Are The Only One will seal the top spot in 2016.
With the use of a CGI screen helping Sweden to victory in 2015, Russia seem to have clocked on by pulling out all the technical stops in their performance, and they’re not the only ones.
Iceland’s Greta Salome will perform her song with the help of a green screen, and at 66/1 could be worth backing as they go for the spectacular.
For just the second time in history Australia will again participate, after finding themselves finishing in fifth last year, and the popular guests will look to win the lot with Dami Im’s Sound of Silence. You can back them at 9/1 to turn the contest upside down in Stockholm.
