Potential signing gets backing from Rangers star

Rangers’ promotion to the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership means they are finally back in the top flight after a four-year absence.
If the Gers are to mount a significant title challenge, you would expect they would need to add to the team that won the Championship with ease.
The 54-time league winners are already being linked with some big names, with two of them getting a ringing endorsement from this season’s top scorer.
Martyn Waghorn has said bringing in Joey Barton and Nico Kranjcar would “only be good for the club” and the former is expected to make a decision on his future by Saturday.
Bringing the English midfielder to Ibrox would be a wise bit of business from Mark Warburton, considering how well the former Manchester City man has done this term.
Barton’s Burnley won the English Championship by a margin of four points and he was integral to this, despite being overlooked when it came to handing out medals.
The 33-year-old made the division’s team of the year and was voted the Clarets’ player of the season.
Additionally, the England international would add some much-needed experience to the blue side of Glasgow.
Kenny Miller is currently the only member of the squad older than Barton, with the 36-year-old striker’s closest on-field colleague in terms of age at the moment five years his junior.
Dean Shiels is said man, with the 31-year-old the only other member of the team in his thirties.
Warburton played six teenagers over the course of Rangers’ title-winning campaign, while seven of the eight top players in terms of minutes on the pitch were under 25.
The former Brentford manager clearly has faith in youth, but it is noticeable that his side are lacking in experience.
Given Barton’s tremendous season at Burnley, he would be the perfect signing to address this.
