Poll Reaction: Rashford ready for a place in Hodgson’s Euros squad

Marcus Rashford may only have made his Manchester United debut three months ago, but he’s the man for England’s Euro 2016 squad.

That’s according to the voters of our poll, which asked whether the 18-year-old should make the cut for this summer’s tournament.

61 per cent of you said the boy from Wythenshawe deserved a spot in Roy Hodgson’s squad.

With the 18-year-old having netted eight times in 17 appearances for the Red Devils – including a winner in the Manchester Derby – there’s plenty of reason to believe he has the confidence and ability to shine at the Euros.

However, 39 per cent of those who answered believe the United man is too young to handle the pressure of a major international tournament.

Many of those will likely be thinking of Theo Walcott’s unwise inclusion in the 2006 World Cup squad, though unlike then 17-year-old Walcott, Rashford already has experience of Premier League and European football.

Following Rashford’s inclusion in Hodgson’s preliminary squad and the subsequent injury to Daniel Sturridge, the Stretford End favourite is now just 4/6 to make the Euros.

And those who back the young hitman to do more than make up the numbers this summer can back Rashford to score anytime at Euro 2016 at 4/1, while it’s 18/1 he finishes the competition as the Three Lions’ top scorer.
