Patrick Roberts named Ladbrokes Premiership Player of the Month

Celtic winger Patrick Roberts has received the Ladbrokes Premiership Player of the Month award for April.

The highly-rated 19-year-old on loan from Manchester City played a crucial part in The Bhoys’ journey to winning the Ladbrokes Premiership title as Ronny Deila’s men grabbed 11 points from five league games during April.

Roberts scored a crucial brace in the 3-1 home win over Hearts at the start of the month and then struck again in the 3-1 away win against the Jam Tarts to help Celtic extend their gap over nearest challengers Aberdeen.

The former Fulham star also impressed in the Hoops’ hard-fought 2-1 triumph at Motherwell and a 1-1 draw at home against Ross County.

However, it’s current Celtic boss Deila who the London-born wing wizard credits with his rise, telling the Daily Record this morning.

“[Deila’s] had faith in me…and I have nothing but pure respect for him” said Roberts.

And the England U19 winger made it clear that now his first-team chances have arrived, he wants to push on personally and see the Hoops squad do the same.

Roberts claimed that his main aims are “to go on and win a treble next season” and “to develop in my career”. That sort of ambition and positivity will no doubt be music to the ears of the Parkhead faithful.

Champions Celtic are next in action at St Johnstone tomorrow night, with the visitors 4/9 to cap off their title win with a final away triumph, while Saints are 11/2 to spoil the party with victory and 7/2 for the draw.

The Hoops man is in red-hot form following five goals in his last six Ladbrokes Premiership games and he’s 11/2 to score first at McDiarmid Park.
