North London expects Tottenham to finish above Arsenal

They may have seen their title dreams go up in smoke in recent weeks but Tottenham can still salvage some bragging rights by finishing above bitter rivals Arsenal.

Spurs go into the final game of the season two points ahead of their north London neighbours and 13 goals to the good, meaning a draw against relegation-threatened Newcastle at St James’ Park should be enough to secure second place.

Arsenal have an even easier task on the final day as they host already-relegated Aston Villa knowing victory  for them and a loss for Spurs would maintain the status quo in the north of the capital.

However, the balance of power will have shifted come the final whistle according to our Twitter following, with 72 per cent of you saying Spurs, rather than Arsenal, will finish the season as runners-up.

This of course means 28 per cent believe Arsenal will do what’s required of them and Spurs will slip to a third successive defeat but given the Gooners’ reputation for hijacking an online poll it seems that confidence genuinely lies with the White Hart Lane outfit.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men go into their final game as even-money favourites to beat the Magpies, with the hosts on at 21/10 and the draw available at 27/10.

The Gunners, meanwhile, can be backed at 1/6 to inflict more misery on the Villans, with a draw available at 11/2 and unlikely Villa win priced up at 12/1.
