Man United v Bournemouth: Red Devils to gain revenge on Cherries

Published:

Junior Stanislas’ olimpico goal sealed a memorable win for Bournemouth over Manchester United earlier this season but the Red Devils are set to gain their revenge at Old Trafford this weekend.

Having lost to West Ham during the week Louis van Gaal and his men have all but blown their chances of reaching the top four but the hosts look set to claim all three points against the Cherries to leave them hoping for the best as Manchester City take on Swansea.

United go into the game having won four and drawn one of their last five at Old Trafford and while the Cherries were excellent in the reverse fixture Eddie Howe’s men have noticeably taken their foot off the gas since securing their Premier League survival.

The Dean Court club have lost three and drawn one of their last five and lost two of their last three on the road highlighting why United go into the game as 4/11 favourites.

The draw can be backed at 18/5, with a Cherries win priced up at 13/2, but with the visitors not just eyeing up their holidays but practically setting up a poolside cocktail bar, there could be better value elsewhere.

Anthony Martial has been one of just a handful of bright sparks throughout another lacklustre season for United and fresh from firing a brace against the Hammers looks a safe bet to sign off in style.

The young Frenchman is United’s top scorer this season with 11 strikes so far and with seven of those coming first in games the 4/1 on Martial breaking the deadlock here looks a worthwhile selection.

United have struggled at the back on occasion this season, however, so don’t expect this FA Cup final warm-up to go all their way.

Former Old Trafford youngster Joshua King may be Bournemouth’s top scorer this season, and also netted the winner in the reverse fixture, but fit-again Callum Wilson was the main man before his injury and will want to finish the season as he started it – among the goals.

The 24-year-old looks likely to start and at 29/10 could represent great value for an anytime strike.
