Man United star receives a boost to his England Euros dream

Odds have tumbled on Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford securing a spot on England’s Euro 2016 plane, following Roy Hodgson’s surprise inclusion of the 18-year-old in his squad for the upcoming friendly games against Turkey, Australia, and Portugal.
Rashford has enjoyed a meteoric rise, having only made his Old Trafford bow on February 25. Since then the Manchester-born striker has netted seven times in his 17 appearances for the Red Devils, including a winning goal in the Manchester Derby.
The young star’s emergence has been so rapid that our traders only included him in the England squad betting in March, but having started out as an 8/1 shot to head to France, it’s now just 3/1 that he makes the final cut.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said:”We only added Rashford to the squad betting a few months ago so he’s defied the odds to get this far but it still looks like he’ll only make the cut in the event of an injury.”
However, if Rashford impresses in the upcoming friendlies, the odds on him gracing the summer’s continental showpiece could tumble again.
However, the big discussion surrounding his club teammate Wayne Rooney is where England’s all-time leading goalscorer will start in the opener against Russia.
It’s evens that Rooney occupies a place in an attacking midfield berth, with 3/1 for the Man United man to begin on the left wing, 10/1 for the right wing and 5/1 for him to wrestle a more forward role from the likes of Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane.
Meanwhile, those who believe Rooney could be ousted by some of the Three Lions’ young talents may be keen to back the 30-year-old not to start against Russia at 4/1.
Whoever makes the cut, it’s 9/2 that the Three Lions win all three games Group B, with Slovakia and Wales rounding out their first-stage opponents.
Those feeling confident England can go far beyond the first phase can back Roy Hodgson’s men to lift their first continental crown at 17/2, and an early flight home looks highly unlikely, with a group-stage exit priced at 16/1.
