Man City planning to raid Arsenal and Spurs this summer

With one game remaining in Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City tenure, focus is understandably switching to where Pep Guardiola will strengthen the squad when he arrives as successor.

According to the Sunday Mirror, the Citizens could be training their transfer crosshairs on north London, with a couple of Arsenal players joining a Spurs regular towards the top of their summer shopping list.

The paper suggests both Jack Wilshere and Alexis Sanchez will be the subject of interest from the incoming Spanish tactician, while Danny Rose is the Spurs player the Etihad outfit would most like in their team.

Left-back Rose, who looks assured a place in England’s Euro 2016 squad, has been linked with the Sky Blues before and was named in the PFA Team of the Year after a stellar top-flight campaign with the Lilywhites.

Sanchez hasn’t enjoyed quite as much success in his sophomore year with the Gunners, but still managed to net 17 goals in 38 all-competition outings this term.

Wilshere has found game time limited by injury once again, but has recently made a return to action and put in a pleasing performance off the bench against the Citizens.

All three are likely to cost City a pretty penny, with the trio held in extremely high regard by their current clubs. However, it’s clear that Guardiola needs to engineer something of a rebuild in Manchester, with the club possibly missing out on Champions League football this season.

The multi-trophy winning manager’s sheer presence is enough to have City installed as the 7/4 ante-post favourites to win next season’s Premier League title, but a few signings are required to ensure they remain in pole position.
