Liverpool star and former Anfield boss could both head for Everton

Following a disappointing campaign which looks set to finish with a bottom-half finish, chances are Everton fans will see an overhaul at Goodison Park this summer and the new arrivals look increasingly likely to include two names associated with Merseyside rivals Liverpool.

Rafael Benitez led Liverpool to Champions League glory in 2005, thus ensuring his place in Anfield folklore, but our traders believe the Spanish boss could risk tarnishing his reputation with Reds fans.

With the former Real Madrid gaffer likely to leave current club Newcastle United if relegation is confirmed (1/16), the odds of a switch to Goodison have tumbled from 10/1 to 7/2.

And, if under-fire Toffees boss Roberto Martinez loses his job in the coming weeks, the odds of one Spaniard replacing another in the Everton hotseat could be cut further.

Christian Benteke is rather less revered by the Reds faithful, having netted a mere eight times in 35 games this season.

With the Belgian striker reportedly unsettled, the price of the former Aston Villa man swapping the Kop for the Gwladys Street End in the coming months has been cut from 12/1 to 6/1.

Meanwhile, it’s 25/1 that both men will unite on the blue half of Merseyside before this summer’s transfer window ends.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “It’s looking ever more likely that Benitez will risk his legendary Liverpool status with a move across the city while Benteke could well swap red for blue to revive his career.”

Everton are next in action at Sunderland tomorrow night, with Martinez looking to end a run which has seen the Toffees take just five points from their last nine Premier League games.

The Blues are 15/4 to take all three points, while it’s 7/10 that the in-form Black Cats win and 14/5 for a share of the spoils.
