Hull set to reach Wembley with another victory over deflated Derby

Published:

Hull City took a huge step towards a Premier League return with a 3-0 victory at Derby, and the Humberside club look set to stroll into the Championship play-off final with another victory over the Rams.

The Tigers are unbeaten at home in the Championship in 2016 and have won four of their last five games at the KC Stadium, scoring 15 times and conceding just four in the process.

By contrast, Derby have won just two from their previous seven on the road. That run has included defeats to bottom-half sides QPR and Wolves in the process, as well as surrendering a three-goal lead at lowly Rotherham.

That record is unlikely to give Steve Bruce too many concerns ahead of tonight’s clash.

In Abel Hernandez, the Tigers also boast one of the league’s most in-form strikers. The Uruguay international has scored in five of his last six outings for the Tigers, and backing him to score anytime tonight at 6/4 could be a very smart bet.

Derby, meanwhile, headed into this play-off semi-final having netted just twice in three games, finishing the regular season with a 1-0 home defeat to Ipswich. So don’t expect them to even come close to turning this tie around.

The best value looks to be with Hull to win again at 11/10, with Derby 13/5 and the draw on at 9/4.

Interestingly, Hull’s 3-0 win in the first leg was their fourth victory this season by that scoreline, and a repeat tonight could prove popular at 18/1.

If you fancy Hernandez and the Tigers to get the job done, we’re offering a fantastic price boost – Abel Hernandez to score and Hull to win WAS 5/2 NOW 3/1.
