How Twitter reacted to Liverpool’s Europa League heartbreak
Published:The soul searching has begun in earnest and the inquest will go on long into the summer following Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat to Sevilla in last night’s Europa League final.
Despite taking a 35th-minute lead through Daniel Sturridge’s superb effort, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds suffered an alarming second-half collapse against the Spaniards with goals from Kevin Gameiro and a Coke brace doing the damage.
The result left Sevilla toasting a third successive Europa League success and it didn’t take long for the Twitter masses to have their say.
Here’s the best of the reaction to a momentous evening, starting off with commiserations from Germany…

Moreno did receive some support though with one famous compatriot leaping to his defence.
Some LFC fans have found excuses (ref, Moreno). Most see that a team that finished 8th in this poor PL is a not a great one and it showed

However, as joy turned to sadness, the TV cameras were quick to highlight the anguish felt by the red half of Merseyside.
And it didn’t take long for some to stick the boot in.
