End of the line for Manchester City – poll hints at Euro exit

Manchester City’s Champions League adventure will come to a premature end at the Bernabeu tonight, according to our latest poll.

Ahead of the Sky Blues’ semi-final second leg against Real Madrid we asked the Twitter masses to have their say on exactly how far outgoing manager Manuel Pellegrini can take his side and the overwhelming majority predicted a sudden halt to proceedings.

In fact a whopping 65 per cent of you said that City will be knocked out tonight, with just 18 per cent saying the Etiihad outfit will lose to Atletico Madrid in the final and the remaining 17 per cent suggesting the Citizens can go all the way.

The game is poised at 0-0, tilting the balance slightly in City’s favour but the return of Cristiano Ronaldo means a win – or even a score draw – will be a tough ask.

City go into the game as 6/1 outsiders on the night and 15/8 to qualify for the final in Rome.

Real, meanwhile – boosted by the return of their talismanic Portuguese forward – are the heavy favourites to win at 8/15 and 2/5 to set up a repeat of the 2014 final against city rivals Atleti.

It’s clear the return of Ronaldo has swayed the opinions of many – as well as the odds – so those looking to put their money where their mouths are could be swayed by the 3/1 odds suggesting CR7 opens the scoring tonight –something he’s already done on five occasions in the Champions League this season.

The former Manchester United man is still a fan favourite at Old Trafford and would like nothing more than to send his old rivals packing and with Ladbrokes boosting a Madrid win and Ronaldo scoring from evens to 11/8 it could pay to back him to do just that.
