Elgin City striker Brian Cameron has been crowned Ladbrokes league 2 Player of the Month for April after his goals helped the Black and Whites go unbeaten last month.

The 24-year-old forward scored his first goal of the month in the dying minutes of his side’s home game against Annan Athletic and his converted penalty ensured a share of the points and hinted at what was to come.

City built on that draw with a 0-0 result away to Stirling and a 1-1 draw at home to Queen’s Park but the forward really came into the month in the latter stages of the month, scoring back-to-back braces against East Stirling and Arbroath.

Cameron, who signed for City some eight years ago, opened and closed the scoring in the 3-0 demolition of East Stirling and followed that up with a well-taken first-half penalty and a 64th-minute strike in the 4-1 rout of Arbroath.

The wheels may have come off the Elgin bandwagon in May, with the club losing 5-1 on aggregate to Clyde in the play-offs but with Cameron reaching double figures for the season manager Jim Weir knows he has the talent at his disposal to have another crack at claiming the Ladbrokes League 2 title next year.
