Crystal Palace are looking to add some extra muscle to their midfield ranks this summer with a bid for Wigan’s Max Power.

The 22-year-old only arrived at the DW Stadium from Tranmere last summer but having made 48 appearances in the Latics’ promotion-winning season Power has attracted admiring glances form several clubs, with the Eagles said to be at the head of the queue.

Brentford and Blackburn Rovers are also said the be keen on securing the midfielder’s services but with a Premier League trump card up his sleeve Palace boss Alan Pardew will rightly expect to see of the Championship duo.

The Selhurst Park club have struggled in the second half of the season, leaving it until last week to secure their top flight status.

However, with an FA Cup final on the horizon Pardew can show Power that the south Londoners are an ambitious club and could be the ideal place for him to progress his fledgling career.

The Eagles head to St Mary’s to take on Southampton on the final day of the season and with one eye on Wembley few will be tempted by odds of 17/2 for what is likely to be a much-changed Palace outfit to take all three points.

Saints go into the game as 1/3 favourites, with the draw on at 15/4, But with a well-rested squad and a chance to impress potential transfer targets, the FA Cup could prove a better value bet for Eagles fans.

Pardew’s men can be backed at 9/4 to inflict further misery on Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal by lifting the famous trophy at the national stadium on May 21.
