CSKA claim Leicester have made big bid for Ahmed Musa

As they search to find the players they believe can help find success at home and abroad next season, Leicester City are set for possibly their busiest off-season in history, and reports claim the Foxes have made a move for one of their priority targets.

The east Midlands club have apparently tabled a bid for CSKA Moscow striker Ahmed Musa, so says the Russian club’s manager Leonid Slutsky.

An offer in the region of £23m has been reported, a fee that would smash the Foxes’ record transfer.

That currently stands at a comparatively small £9m for Andrej Kramaric in January last year, and is a sizeable indicator of just how far Leicester have gone up in the world since then.

Musa was linked with a move to Manchester United in January, but since that mid-season window shut, Leicester have been increasingly linked with the 23-year-old.

Capable as a traditional centre-forward or on either flank, Musa netted 18 times in addition to six assists this season, and appears to be Ranieri’s main target, with the Italian heavily reliant on just three strikers last season.

With a Champions League campaign to look forward too however, and the defence of a Premier League title, the Foxes ideally need to bring in a fourth member to team up with Jamie Vardy, Shinji Okazaki and Leonardo Ulloa.

Leicester have also been frequently linked with Palermo’s Gianluca Lapadula, Deportivo’s Lucas Perez and Watford’s Troy Deeney, but it appears Musa is at the top of the shortlist.

The Foxes rewrote the history books last season, and it looks increasingly likely they’ll be smashing a few more records this summer too.
