Bournemouth set to boost defence with bid for La Liga ace

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has set his sights on boosting the Cherries’ defensive options this summer and is likely to start with a swoop on Sporting Gijon.
The La Liga club look set to drop out of the Spanish top flight but one player who has impressed throughout a trying campaign is Bernardo Espinosa.
The 26-year-old joined the Rojiblancos from Sevilla in 2013 for £675,000 and while valued at around £2m will be available on a free transfer once his contract expires in June.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Bournemouth have agreed a deal in principle to sign the defender and with the offer higher than the one on the table at El Molinon a medical in England is understood to have already gone ahead.
Espinosa is joined on the Cherries’ wishlist by Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason and Bolton’s player of the season Rob Holding.
Howe surprised many by guiding the Cherries to survival this season but recent results and a host of injuries throughout the campaign have highlighted the need for reinforcements and a busy summer lies ahead.
Bournemouth’s last game of the season sees them travel to Old Trafford to take on a Manchester United side still harbouring faint hopes of reaching the top four.
The Seasiders go into the match as 13/2 underdogs, with the draw on at 18/5 and a United win priced up at 4/11. Having won the reverse fixture 1-0 and seen the Red Devils fluff their lines at Upton Park though Howe and his side will be confident of ending the season on a high.
