Barnsley can reach Wembley in style with victory at Walsall

Barnsley’s Paul Heckingbottom has the upper hand on Walsall’s Jon Whitney in the battle of the caretaker managers, following a commanding 3-0 win over the Saddlers in the first leg of the League One play-off semi-final. And the Tykes temporary boss is set to secure a Wembley berth with another win tonight.
The South Yorkshire outfit took 17 points from their last seven away games of the regular season, beating Wigan 4-1 at the DW Stadium and winning 3-1 in Walsall during that period.
Conversely, Whitney’s men have struggled on their own patch in 2016, winning only four of 11 games at the Banks’s Stadium, including a sequence of three defeats within a month.
Add to that the fact that Barnsley have kept an astonishing 13 clean sheets since the turn of the year – lucky for some! – and even at 1/20 to reach Wembley, they could prove popular to reach the final, with the stats all but ruling out a sensational Walsall comeback.

Former Scunthorpe United striker Winnall has done just that in three of his last seven outings, so backing him for another brace (or more) could prove excellent value at 15/2.
The Oakwell club repeating the 3-0 margin they managed in the first outing could also tempt a few at 33/1.
The Tykes certainly look the men to back tonight at 9/4, while Walsall are 11/10 to win and 5/2 for a draw.
