Atletico Madrid are the people’s choice to win Champions League

Published:

The Champions League final will be an all-Spanish affair for the second time in three years after Real Madrid dashed Manchester City’s hopes with a 1-0 win at the Bernabeu last night.

Gareth Bale’s deflected strike proved the difference and sets up a repeat of the 2014 final with Zinedine Zidane’s Los Blancos side facing La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid in Rome.

Zizou’s side are the early favourites for victory as far as the betting goes, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Bale and co. priced at 27/20 to win the match and just 8/11 to claim an unprecedented 11th European title.

Diego Simeone’s charges will once again play as underdogs, with their match odds quoted at 37/20 and their chances of lifting the famous trophy rated at 11/10.

However, while Real are the market favourites Atleti are the people’s choice according to our latest poll.

After seeing Bale ensure an all-Madrid final we asked our Twitter followers to have their say on who will win Europe’s top prize and with 67 per cent of the votes Atletico were the overwhelming winners.

Those of you lacking a GCSE in maths will need telling that this means just 33 per cent of voters believe Real can bring Zidane a European crown in his first season as a top flight boss.

Atletico have taken four points off of Real this season, drawing 1-1 at the Vicente Calderon Stadium and securing a precious 1-0 away victory at the Bernabeu so while the odds favour a win for Los Blancos the masses might just be on to something.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
