All eyes on the battle for third place in London Mayoral Election

With current Shadow Minister for London Sadiq Khan seemingly set to win the London Mayoral Election at 1/8 and Conservative Zac Goldsmith almost certain to finish as runner-up, it’s the race for third place which is proving the most interesting.
Peter Whittle is the 6/4 favourite to grab that elusive third spot.
The UKIP candidate and former journalist finished third behind Labour and Conservative candidates in his Eltham constituency during the 2015 General Election, and leads the charge to do so again in this gripping election.
Green Party candidate Sian Berry is next best, with the Cheltenham native 15/8 to round off a top three which looks certain to include London-born Khan and Goldsmith.
Liberal Democrat Caroline Pidgeon is 9/4 to carry home third spot, while the enigmatic George Galloway is 16/1 to gain that accolade for the lesser-known Respect Party.
Author and feminists’ champion Sophie Walker is 50/1, representing the recently-founded Women’s Equality Party.
And, with her party’s continued growth and high-profile figures like Sandi Toksvig on board for Walker’s campaign, the smart money could be on the 44-year-old Scot upsetting the odds to take third.
Paul Golding, the controversial leader of far-right Britain First is a 100/1 shot to take the proverbial bronze medal, with our traders believing that the party’s significant support on social media is unlikely to translate into votes.
He’s joined on 100s by the eccentric Prince Zylinski, Lee Harris of CISTA, the BNP’s David Furness and Ankit Love, the representative for One Love.
The candidates in that cluster are highly unlikely to finish as high as third, though as Donald Trump’s success over the pond shows, outsiders have a habit of producing surprises in politics.
