Wrestlemania: Triple H looks a cracking bet to retain his title

WWE’s flagship event celebrates its 32nd birthday in Dallas this year and there have been few Wrestlemania’s that have irked fans more than this one.
The main event features one of the most polarising stars of this decade, Roman Reigns, going toe-to-toe with one of the most popular champions of yesteryear, Triple H.
Roman is 1/5 clear favourite to walk away from the ‘Grandest Stage of Them All’ holding gold and having watched the brutal beatings he’s dished out to HHH in recent weeks, it’s hard to bet against the Samoan.
But Trips has been there, done that as a 14-time World Champion. The Game is 3/1 to retain his title, which is generous odds considering his stellar career.
Surely there won’t be another shock in store for ‘Taker?
The match that has everyone buzzing, however, is The Deadman versus The Prodigal Son. The Phenom versus The Boy Wonder. The Undertaker versus Shane O’Mac.
Yep, Shane is back and vying for control of WWE. But the odds have been stacked heavily against him by his father and Chairman of the Board, Vince McMahon.
It’s difficult to bet against The Undertaker at 4/5, who has a near unblemished Wrestlemania record. The only man to ever defeat ‘Taker was former MMA star Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 30.
But with Shane at 10/11, it’s not out of the realms of possibility that the hugely popular McMahon might put his body on the line like old times and pull victory out of nowhere… via a helping hand, perhaps?
And there’s plenty more action to enjoy…
The Divas triple-threat match is one that has also caused excitement amongst fans of pro-wrestling.
Fan-favourite Sasha Banks is also bookies favourite at 1/4. Former best pal and current champion Charlotte is 3/1 to keep hold of her title with the help of her Dad, two-time Hall of Famer Ric Flair. Rank outsider Becky Lynch is 10/1 but WWE is known for its shocks, and stranger things have happened.
Brock Lesnar and The Lunatic Dean Ambrose face-off in a street-fight with the latter being slight favourite to win at 4/5. Despite the obvious size and strength differences between the two, Ambrose is always up for a fight and will no doubt take it to Lesnar in the early going. Brock is 10/11 to thrash his challenger, but will The Beast be conquered?
Kevin Owens’ Intercontinental Championship will be defended in a six-man ladder match again this year and the current holder is 4/5 to keep hold of his title. Other participants include Zack Ryder, Sami Zayn and The Miz who are 2/1, 5/2 and 33/1 respectively. Former IC Champ Dolph Ziggler can’t be ruled out at 11/1 while Sin Cara and Stardust make up the numbers at 33/1 and 50/1.
AJ Styles against Chris Jericho is one for the purists with Styles the huge 1/7 favourite to claim victory in his Wrestlemania debut. Y2J has been embarrassed over the last few weeks by his former tag-team partner but 4/1 represents good value, considering Jericho’s vast experience at ‘Mania.
The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal always throws up entertaining spots and moments for fans with their favourite mid-card guys getting on the show.
The rumour-mill has been churning with talk of it potentially being the last Wrestlemania for superstars like Kane and Mark Henry (no relation).
Both are in with a shout at 9/1 and 6/1 but the favourite to walk away with the victory is Wyatt member Braun Strowman. The monster Strowman is 5/4, while Wyatt Family Patriarch Bray is 11/2.
