WATCH: Alloa secure a first home win against Hibernian

Retaining their place in a hugely competitive Ladbrokes Championship may have been just beyond Jack Ross’ industrious Alloa side this season, but there were reasons to be cheerful for the home faithful this weekend, with a 1-0 victory over Hibs to finally end their winless home streak.

A well worked throw-in routine was capped off by a deft touch and thunderous finish from Wasps’ winger Michael Duffy just before half-time, giving the man on loan from Celtic a second goal of his stint in Clackmannanshire.

Alloa ‘keeper Scott Gallacher was instrumental in the hosts retaining their lead, with the former Scotland U21 international saving smartly from James Keatings and Anthony Stokes, among others.

If the Wasps – who have begun to pick up more points since the New Year – can build on the weekend’s win against the Edinburgh giants, then confidence could be high going into next season. And having now recorded a first home win of the campaign, Ross’ men will be keen to keep up those positive vibes.

Alloa host Queen of the South this weekend, with the newly buoyed Recreation Park club 14/5 to win.

Hibs, meanwhile, look to recapture their best form as they welcome Falkirk to Easter road, with Alan Stubbs’ men 7/10 to notch up a sixth win in seven home Ladbrokes Championship games.
