Time’s up for Martinez at Everton, according to poll

Everton fans have run out of patience with manager Roberto Martinez and want the Spaniard to walk, according to a new poll.

On the back of a 4-0 derby hammering by Liverpool we asked the Twitter masses to have their say on the Toffees boss’ future and the overwhelming majority believe it is time for a change.

A staggering 75 per cent of voters opted for ‘Martinez out’ suggesting the owners will face enormous pressure to appoint a replacement ahead of the new season.

This is course means that 25 per cent of the Merseyside club’s fan base believe the current manager can turn it around but the betting suggests a list of replacements is already being drawn up.

Former manager David Moyes is just 4/1 to return to the club where he built his reputation and despite lacklustre spells at Manchester United and Real Sociedad is our favourite to get the nod.

Former Marseille manager Marcelo Bielsa is next in the running at 6/1, while outgoing Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini completes the top three at 10/1.

Roberto Mancini (12/1), Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe (12/1) and Goodison Park favourite Duncan Ferguson (20/1) are also said to be in the running but for now it looks like Moyes’ role to take.

The Scot is also said to be in the frame for the Celtic and Aston Villa jobs proving the old adage that managerial posts are like London buses obviously holds some water.
