Spurs to get derailed by bogey team Stoke

Published:

Leicester City’s draw with West Ham allows Tottenham Hotspur to close the gap at the top of the table to five points when they face Stoke.

However, history shows they won’t be able to get this much needed victory.

In their last three meetings, the Potters have gone unbeaten, winning twice and drawing once.

Furthermore, when Maurico Pochettino was manager of Southampton, all three of his meetings with the Midlanders ended in a draw.

Therefore, the Argentine manager has never managed to mastermind a victory over Stoke and clearly hasn’t figured out how to get the better of them.

Backing the Potters either to win or draw is priced at evens and would be a sensible investment given how difficult Spurs find it against their upcoming opponents.

The likelihood of Mark Hughes’ men avoiding defeat is further increased when you look at how his side have fared at home in recent games.

In their last four matches at the Britannia Stadium, Stoke have only lost once and won twice.

Conversely, the Lilywhites have only emerged victorious in one of their last four outings across all competitions on the road and that was against bottom-placed Aston Villa.

Furthermore, they were on the end of a defeat in two games across that run, weakening their chances of getting something against a side that is fast becoming Pochettino’s bogey side.

Therefore, punters should feel more confident when making an assessment in this game and rather than just backing Stoke not to lose, they should have enough confident that the Potters will be able to grab a win.

Seeing Hughes’ team grab a victory is priced at 4/1.

Harry Kane to score and Tottenham to win was 6/4 NOW 2/1.
