Premier League Darts: A Birmingham battle as semi-finals loom

The Premier League Darts circus rolls into Birmingham tonight, and while Phil Taylor is safely through, and Robert Thornton mathematically eliminated, the remaining six arrowsmiths still have everything to play for on the oche.

Last week’s 7-2 victory for the Power over the Thorn decided each man’s destiny in quite differing fashion, but in between the top and bottom of the league, it’s a closely-fought contest.

Michael van Gerwen is all-but through too, but everyone else needs to perform in the remaining weeks, and for Scottish pair Peter Wright and Gary Anderson, they’ve got the opportunity to do that twice tonight.

Snakebite currently sits four points off the pace, and could be eliminated this evening if results don’t go his way.

Wright opens the evening against Taylor, and with the pair each winning two and drawing one of their last five contests, the Scot might fancy his chances with the Power already through.

It’s 10/3 Wright opens his evening with a win, while Taylor is 8/15 for a fifth victory in succession.

Raymond van Barneveld is also four points off the top quartet, and has just three games remaining to Wright’s four.

Barney will be all but out if he can’t defeat Gary Anderson tonight, and the Dutchman is 3/1 for the win, with the reigning Premier League and World champion favourite at 4/7.

Adrian Lewis, sits alongside Anderson in fourth on 15 points, but with James Wade right behind on 14, Jackpot can’t afford to slip up.

The two-time World Champion is 4/9 to defeat Thornton, before Wade tries to claim a point or two off Van Gerwen.

The Machine is 11/2 for the win, with Mighty Mike 3/10.

Having won the last two meetings with the Dutch star however – including the Premier League clash on the opening night – it may be worth backing Wade once again.

Wright and Anderson then round out the night with an all-Scottish affair.

Snakebite is 5/2 for a win, with the Flying Scotsman favourite at 4/6.

It’s very much the business end of the season, and for Wright and Van Barneveld, they could be out of contention if they don’t hit those doubles tonight.

As usual, we’re offering a host of special price boosts plus match doubles and trebles for tonight’s action. You can find them all right here.
