It’s shaping up to be one of the closest title run-ins the Championship has ever seen, but when all is said and done, Burnley will be celebrating as champions of England’s second tier.

That’s according to Twitter, who responded in their droves when we asked which of Burnley, Brighton and Middlesbrough would come top of the pile.

All three sides are sitting on 87 points, with just a small goal difference splitting the trio, and Brighton still have to head to the Riverside Stadium on the final day.

There’s also a slim chance Burnley and the Seagulls could end up in a play-off after posting identical figures after 46 games.

But back to our poll and it seems most of you reckon Burnley will be going into the Premier League as champions though, with 43 per cent voting for Burnley, the 8/15 league favourites.

That left 12/5 shots Middlesbrough second in today’s vote with 38 per cent saying the north-east side will top the table.

It’s bad news for the Seagulls though, with just 19 per cent of you fancying Chris Hughton’s 6/1 outsiders men to top the pile.

Aitor Karanka’s Wearsiders can continue their title bid tonight when they face Birmingham.

Boro’ are 8/13 to lay down a marker to the title rivals with a win this evening, while the Blues are 5/1 to do Brighton and Burnley a huge favour with three points.
