Nigel Pearson favourite but David Moyes’ Villa odds slashed

David Moyes has seen his odds of becoming the next Aston Villa manager slashed after a host of bets for the ex-Everton boss over the weekend.
The Scot was 9/1 before the weekend’s action got underway, and was 6/1 as Monday dawned only for more money to come in, forcing the bookies to shorten Moyes again to 4/1.
It’s been reported that the former Manchester United boss is interested in the Villa hotseat, as the club look to rebuild following their relegation to the Championship.
Ex-Leicester manager Nigel Pearson is 8/11 favourite to be in the Villa dugout next term, with Hull’s Steve Bruce also in contention at 9/2.
Leading the outsiders challenge are Mick McCarthy (7/1) and Simon Grayson (10/1) with Wales boss Chris Coleman 16/1 to mark a return to club management with the Birmingham-based club.
A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Aston Villa must get their next appointment right, and David Moyes is no stranger to working wonders under pressure.”
Now consigned to football below the Premier League for the first time since 1988, Villa will be back in action on Saturday when they host Southampton.
Seeking just a fourth league win of the season, the Villans are 5/1 to see off Ronald Koeman’s men, with the Saints 4/7 favourites.
