Meet the man at the heart of Man United’s rebuilding plans

Manchester United have earmarked the man they want to kick-start a new era of success at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are poised to swoop on Leicester City this summer and it’s not Jamie Vardy or Riyad Mahrez who are the subject of their attention.

Instead it is N’Golo Kante that United are hoping to build a new-look team around and any bid has been given the seal of approval from Sir Alex Ferguson.

The managerial position for next season is still under a cloud of uncertainly at United, with Jose Mourinho still odds-on to replace Louis van Gaal before the start of the new campaign.

However, regardless of who is in charge United are said to have drawn out their transfer plans and will tempt the Foxes with a big money offer once the transfer window re-opens.

The 20-time champions will be encouraged by the noises coming out of the King Power stadium too with both the player and manager Claudio Ranieri refusing to rule out a move for the 25-year-old France international.

When asked about potentially selling Kante, the Italian is quoted as saying:”If some big teams arrive, who give us a lot of big money, maybe we can think about it.
“If he is not happy here and wants to go, I don’t want sad people here. I want happy people.”

Kante has re-affirmed his dedication to Leicester’s title chase but stopped short of confirming his plans for next year, saying:: “At this moment I am focused on Leicester. We have to finish well this season but I don’t mind about being linked with the other clubs.”

United’s bid for a top four finish takes them to White Hart Lane this weekend and as 3/1 outsider to beat Tottenham it’s clear to see why an injection of midfield talent is at the top of their wish list.
