Marc Davis: I can’t wait to get started at Q School and join the elite

Published:

I have had a busy couple of weeks with work and playing in the North Of Scotland Championship. This was a successful event for me winning 4-0 first-up, 4-0 in the quarters and semis and then beating the defending champion 5-1 in the final.

I played OK in the final with four breaks around the 60 mark and a 125 clearance in the last, but most pleasing was my safety game which I have been working hard at!

Practice is underway for Q School and I have been putting the hours in when I’m away from work as a manager of a Ladbrokes shop (Union Street Aberdeen).

I know I’m working hard as my muscles are aching in places I didn’t know there were muscles. You know when practice is going well as you get a subconscious floating feeling almost, alongside the ability to play on instinct rather than having to think.

I hope Q School will go well. My first match will be against former pro Stephen Ormerod on Wednesday 11 May at 14:00.

I have never seen him play to be honest but know it will be a tough match as in Q School no easy draws are available really.

Also this year players such as Gerard Greene will be there as well as my occasional roommate, the one and only Tony Drago.

Tony will keep me and many others entertained at the event as always. For me, Tony is the biggest ‘natural’ talent in the game as sometimes he doesn’t even look at the ball, he’s just so sharp.

So it’s all set up for a great event at Burton. The hardest part is being away from my 10-month old daughter Ava but the rewards can be massive so hopefully it’ll be worth it.

I’d like to thank Ladbrokes for sponsoring my entry to this event along with some help from close friends and family.

Hopefully I can post some fun pictures from the event and the trip down.

Draws and information can be found at www.worldsnooker.com

It’s going to be tough but I’m up for the challenge.

Thanks!
Marc J Davis
