Liverpool Europa League favourites following 77/1 Anfield epic

Liverpool’s incredible comeback to score three times in the final 25 minutes last night to defeat Borussia Dortmund has seen Jurgen Klopp’s men soar to Europa League favouritism.

The Reds were backed at an incredible 77/1 in-play last night, with Klopp’s old side seemingly destined for a place in the last four having gone 4-2 up on aggregate early in the second half.

But goals from Philippe Coutinho, Mamadou Sakho and an injury-time winner from Dejan Lovren sent Anfield rocking and Dortmund packing in one of Liverpool’s greatest European nights.

The result pushed the Merseysiders into 7/4 favourites to win the tournament and bag a spot in next season’s Champions League.

Europa League champions Sevilla – seeking a fifth title and third in succession – are 2/1 after a penalty shootout win over compatriots Athletic Bilbao, with fellow La Liga side Villarrreal 7/2.

Shakhtar Donetsk are the outsiders of the quartet at 5/1.

A Ladbrokes spokesman said: “Last night was Anfield’s Istanbul, and after their incredible long-odds fightback it’s no wonder they’re Europa League favourites now.”

The Reds return to domestic action this weekend away at Bournemouth.

Klopp’s side are 11/10 to ride a wave of European momentum with three points, while the Cherries are 12/5 for a home win.
