Leicester man Mahrez clear favourite to be PFA Player of the Year
The shortlists are out for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award and the Young Player crown, with a very clear favourite for both prizes.
Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez has consistently dazzled during the east midlands club’s title tilt and is 2/5 to be rewarded with the Player of the Year trophy.
His City teammate Jamie Vardy, who scored in 11 consecutive Premier League games this season to break Ruud van Nistelrooy’s long-standing record, is 9/4 to receive the award, with fellow Foxes man N’Golo Kante a 33/1 outsider.
Harry Kane – also among the Young Player nominees – is 10/1, comfortably the shortest price of the all-London trio who complete the list. Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil and West Ham’s set-piece magician Dimitri Payet are 33/1 apiece.
The destination of the Young Player of the Year award looks even more clear-cut, with 20-year-old Tottenham star Dele Alli 1/6 to claim this personal accolade.
His Spurs teammate Kane is second-favourite at 10/3, and currently leads the top-flight’s scoring charts with an imperious 22 strikes.
Stoke City stopper Jack Butland is 12/1, with Evertonian long-shots Romelu Lukaku (25/1) and 33/1 Ross Barkley joined by Philippe Coutinho, who has impressed at Anfield this season, but is highly unlikely to win here at 50/1.
