Leicester battling Tottenham and Liverpool for Serie A ace

Published:

As they home in on an incredible Premier League title, and prepare for Champions League football next season, Leicester are also looking high and low for the players they need to stay at the top.

One of them, according to the press this week, is Fiorentina hotshot Josip Ilicic.

The Slovenian has netted 15 goals in addition to five assists for La Viola this term in all competitions, and his performances have drawn attention from a number of Premier League sides.

Valued by transfermarkt.co.uk at £11.25m, Fiorentina are under no pressure to part company with one of their ace cards, with Ilicic’s contract running until 2018.

However, with the Florence side set to miss out on Champions League football next season, their midfield star could be tempted by what Leicester and Spurs can offer.

Liverpool – who can still reach the Champions League too – are reportedly preparing to offer Mario Balotelli in a rare and high-profile swap deal.

But with all the buzz around Leicester right now, there can be few players who wouldn’t want a taste of these heady times at the King Power Stadium.

Primarily an attacking midfielder, Ilicic is adaptable on the right wing too, to fit under Claudio Ranieri’s preferred 4-4-2, whilst also ready to fit into a 4-2-3-1 or similar.

It’s been the craziest season in the Foxes’ history, and they now look set for the craziest off-season in history too as the side prepare to be linked with all of Europe’s biggest talents.
