Ladbrokes Premiership: Motherwell to extend fantastic run

Published:

With the Ladbrokes Premiership fast approaching the split phase of the season the intrigue has been cranked up in recent weeks and this weekend should be no different with some tasty matches to look forward to.

Celtic kick the weekend off looking to move seven points clear of Aberdeen when they host Hearts at Celtic Park but attention will soon turn to the remaining five fixtures with Motherwell in the running to be the headline grabbers once again.

Well are on a fantastic run of form and will hope to make it five successive matches when they travel to Inverness to take on Caledonian Thistle.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of that tie and the rest of the weekend’s action…

Dundee v Ross County

With both clubs posting indifferent results of late this one could go either way. Dundee have lost just one of their last five but with four draws in that time seem to have forgotten how to win. County have two victories to their name in that time but with two losses and a draw it’s hard to know which Staggies side will turn up on the day. However, with 14 strikes in the last two meetings one thing that can be relied upon here is a glut of goals.
Best Bet: Over 4.5 goals @ 9/2

Inverness CT v Motherwell

Inverness stopped the rot last time out with a 3-0 win over Ross County bringing a three-game losing run to an end, and with victory in their last two meetings with Motherwell Caley will be confident of another three points. However, Well have also won two of the last four meetings with the Caley Jags and having won their last four league games look to have the momentum going into this tie.
Best Bet: Motherwell to win @ 21/10

Partick Thistle v Kilmarnock

Killie have lost just one of their last six meetings with Partick but coming into this latest clash on the back of four successive defeats will hardly instil confidence in Lee Clark’s men.  Thistle ended a five-game winless streak against Killie last time out and the manner of that 5-2 away win bodes well for home fans this weekend.
Best Bet: Partick (-1) to win @ 12/5

St Johnstone v Dundee United

United’s recent relegation revival has been curtailed with two defeats and a draw from their last three games and a return to winning ways seems unlikely against a Saints side they have beaten just once in six times of asking. The hosts have lost just one of their last five and after taking three of their last five meetings with the Terrors by a 2-1 scoreline many will be tempted to back a repeat.
Best bet: St Johnstone 2 -1 Dundee United @ 8/1

Aberdeen v Hamilton

The Dons could well find themselves seven points behind Celtic in the title race by the time Hamilton rock up at Pittodrie but Derek McInnes’ side will be confident of clawing points back whatever happens at Celtic Park. Hamilton are winless in five games and with Aberdeen winning four of the last five meetings without conceding a goal the hosts can be expected to cruise to victory.
Best Bet: Aberdeen to win to nil @ 11/8
